S13-804: Top Mobile Web App Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Track: Mobile Application Testing

Designing mobile web applications requires a lot of creativity and effort, as mobile users tend to demand a sleeker experience with the application than desktop users. Mobile devices provide narrower end user error margin, and end users set the expectations bar high, comparing their experience to those with state of the art iOS and Android applications they use every day on the same device. More functionality requires more code and data on the client side, which requires more bytes to be transferred to the client and in turn means longer page load times which can negatively impact end-user experiences.

Performance issues, crashes and hangs account for roughly 15% to 30% of user complaints in the iOS and Android marketplaces. This session will reveal the most frequent mobile app pitfalls that impact performance and tips on how to avoid them throughout the development process.
