Have you ever stopped to consider the depth and breadth of testing that could go into such a ‘simple’ control?
In an attempt to understand the truism “You never finish testing, you just stop testing.”; let’s see how much trouble we can get into with ‘just’ a text box. We will talk through some of the possible testing approaches to reduce almost any text box to a quivering mass and cause developers to run away screaming. This is not a recommendation that anyone become a specialized text box assassin; but rather an eye-opening exercise on just how much could be done with an infinite amount of time and focused expertise.

Kris is a QA professional who transitioned from several years of physical networking and PC building into his first software quality assurance job in 1994. Since that time, he has worked at every level of QA from individual contributor to acting Director on a wide variety of systems and technology stacks; image editing, process improvement and flowcharting, digital video editing systems for broadcast television, banking, mortgage, healthcare, order fulfillment and more performing both manual and automated testing. Outside of the QA arena, Kris is also a certified trainer in multiple subjects. He is always looking to bring an element of fun into the learning process.
