F14-11/4: Let It Be Written; The QA Document Suite

Track/s: Strategy

There is an adage in the Nursing profession that states, “If it was not written down, it did not happen.” A great adage that the presenter believes QA professionals everywhere should adopt. Proper organization and documentation are keys to any successful endeavor. So, how do you keep track of everything? How do you know what you are supposed to do?  There are many methods and processes that you can choose from.

In this session, Bradley Baird offers a method for your consideration. Developed and refined over a 20-year period, this is the method that he has found to be the most effective. Comprised of a suite of six documents, each of which has been harmonized with the others, the basic QA document library will help you organize your QA efforts in a manner that makes it easy for you to organize your products, manage your team members to be more productive, and keep the stakeholders informed. Oh, and in case you are wondering, the documents are: The Master Test Plan, the Functional Test Plan, the Testing Guide, Test Case, Use Case, and Test Glossary.

Session Takeaways:

  • A suite of six documents that comprise a QA document library.
  • A discussion of who creates, updates and maintains this library.
  • A guide for what data each document should include.
  • Ideas for when the documents should be created.
  • Ideas for where to find the data.
